Unraveling the Mystery of Your PC's IP Address

www.OneCoolTip.com - I Didn't Know That!
Have you ever wondered why you need to know your computer’s IP address?

Have you ever been asked for it and didn’t know where to find it?

Here's a Cool Tip:  Know how to find your IP address.

Your IP address is a unique identifier for your computer on a network.

There will usually be both a Public and local IP address.

Both public and private IP addresses allow devices to communicate with each other.

A public IP address identifies you to the wider internet so that all the information you're searching for can find you.

A private IP address is used within a private network to connect securely to other devices within that same network.

It’s like a mailing address for your device, allowing it to communicate with other devices on the internet.

Knowing your IP address can be useful for troubleshooting network issues, setting up a home network, and ensuring online security.

How do you find your IP address?
  • One way to find your local IP address is to use the command prompt on your computer.
    • Press Windows + R on your keyboard to open the Run dialog box.
    • Type cmd
    • Press Enter to launch the Command Prompt.
    • In the Command Prompt window, type ipconfig and press Enter.
    • Look for the IPv4 Address under the network adapter you are using;
      • This is your PC's IP address.

fig.1 - ipconfig results

  • To find your public IP address is to use Google.
    • Go to www.google.com.
    • Search for “what is my IP address
    • Google will display your public IP address.

How to Use Google Bard's New Image Upload Feature

Google Bard Experiment
Do you need to understand a picture?

Do you need to provide an accurate or creative description of an image?

Here's a Cool Tip: Let Google Bard do it.

This powerful tool allows you to upload images to Bard and ask it to generate text, translate languages, write different kinds of creative content, and answer your questions in an informative way.

Here are a few examples of how you can use the new image upload feature:
  • Get nutritional information from images. Upload an image of food and ask Bard to calculate the total calorie, fat, protein, and carbohydrate content.
  • Extract text from images. Upload an image of a document and ask Bard to extract the text. This can be helpful if you need to convert a scanned document into a digital format.
  • Write a funny caption for an image. Upload an image of your pet and ask Bard to write a funny caption.
  • Generate creative content from an image. Upload an image of a landscape and ask Bard to write a poem or a song about it. This can be a fun way to use your imagination and creativity.

This can be a great way to add some humor to your social media posts.

Here's how to use it:
  • Go to Google Bard: https://bard.google.com/
  • Click on the + icon next to the text field.
  • Select the image you want to upload.
  • Once the image is uploaded, you can ask Bard to generate text, translate languages, write different kinds of creative content, or answer your questions.

Google Bard Image Upload
fig. 1 - Google Bard Image Upload

In my example above, I uploaded an image from a recent outing to Denver.

I uploaded the image and asked Google to tell me about the picture:

Sure, the image you sent me shows a large rock formation with trees in the foreground. The rock formation is red and has a jagged appearance. The trees in the foreground are green and lush. The sky is blue and clear.

The image was taken at Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado. Red Rocks is a popular outdoor concert venue and hiking destination. The park is home to a variety of rock formations, including the one pictured in the image.

The image is a beautiful representation of the natural beauty of Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre. It captures the stunning contrast between the red rocks and the green trees. The clear blue sky further enhances the beauty of the image.

That's an accurate representation.
As an added request, I asked Google Bard to write a haiku about the image:
Red rocks rise above
The lush green trees of the forest
Nature's beauty abounds
Enjoy!
