How to Customize Google's Top Stories

Google Search now lets you pick your preferred sources for the Top Stories section. With a few quick steps, you can make sure the outlets you trust appear first.

Have you ever searched for news and felt overwhelmed by the random mix of outlets? 

Some you trust, others you don’t, and plenty that just waste your time. 

Here's a Cool Tip:  Select Your Preferred Sources for the Top Stories.

You can now tell Search which outlets you prefer, and they’ll appear more prominently in Top Stories. 

It is a small change with a big impact on how you find reliable news.

Stay Up-to-Date with the World: How to Access Google News URLs for Other Countries

Have you ever wondered how others outside your country think about your country's news?

There's an easy way to find out.

Here's the Cool Tip:  Check out Google News for other countries.

The easiest way is to do this:

• Go to news.google.com and 
• Select the Gear icon in the top-right corner.
• Select Language and Region
• Select your choice of news.
• For example, English (United Kingdom)

• Then select Update.
• You will be viewing the UK version of Google News.

• To return to your native country, just reverse the process.

You can also use the links below to visit Google News for each country.  This option will not change your settings.

United Kingdom: https://news.google.com/?hl=en-GB&gl=GB&ceid=GB:en

Canada: https://news.google.com/?hl=en-CA&gl=CA&ceid=CA:en

If you do not read the language, Google will usually have an option near the top of the page to translate the page into your native language.

For other countries, you can modify the URL parameters accordingly. The "hl" parameter indicates the language, and the "gl" and "ceid" parameters represent the country code. For example, if you want to access Google News in Italian for Italy, you can change the parameters to "hl=it" and "gl=IT&ceid=IT:it".
