Find a Forgotten Movie by Describing What You Remember

Find a Forgotten Movie by Describing What You Remember

You remember the chase, the strange ending, or one perfect line, but not the movie title. WhatIsMyMovie.com lets you search using those scattered details instead of forcing you to know the exact name.

By Rodger Mansfield, Technology Editor
September 18, 2026

What Is My Movie icon
You can picture the scene perfectly: a photographer watches his neighbors through a window, begins to suspect a murder, and cannot leave his apartment.

The title, however, refuses to surface.

A conventional search engine may solve the mystery, but it can also bury the answer beneath streaming pages, reviews, social posts, and loosely related results.

Here’s a Cool Tip: Describe the scene and rediscover the title.

WhatIsMyMovie.com takes a more focused approach.

Describe what you remember, and the site searches for movies that match the plot, people, genre, setting, or quoted dialogue.

Discover the Secret to Finding Where Any Movie or Show is Streaming Online

Search

With so many streaming sites now available, how can you find where your favorite movie or TV shows are available?  And how much will it cost to watch?

Online streaming is here to stay.  Popular sites such as Disney+, Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, HBO Max, YouTube and Paramount+  all have content to view.

Maybe you subscribe to one or more of these sites.

But how can you find which site has the movie or show you are looking to watch?

There are a few cool tips for finding your shows:
  • When using a Roku, AppleTV or FireTV device, use the built-in search function to see if your show is listed
  • Use Google to search.  For example, enter watch  <name of show>.
  • In this case, Captain America: The First Avenger

Google Search Captain America

  • The Google results show that the movie is available on Disney+ if you have a subscription, and several other sites to rent to view.
  • You can also select the Edit Services link to select only the streaming services you want to search.
  • Finally, use JustWatch.com to search for the show.  In this case, I again searched for Captain America.

  • JustWatch also shows that the movie is available at Disney+ along with AppleTV.  But it's missing several other viewing options.
  • In this case, Google is a clear winner in finding Captain America to watch.

Enjoy!

Gmail
Do you need to find all of your Gmail messages older than a year?

May the Fourth Be With You: What Happens When You Tell Siri, Alexa, and Google "I Am Your Father"?

May the Fourth Be With You: What Happens When You Tell Siri, Alexa, and Google "I Am Your Father"?

This May the Fourth, Star Wars fans can inject some geeky fun into their day  by channeling Darth Vader with their smart assistants.  Here's how Siri, Alexa, and Google respond to the iconic line.

By Rodger Mansfield, Technology Editor
May 4, 2024

May 4th - the unofficial Star Wars holiday – is here!

For many, this means movie marathons, donning Jedi robes, and of course, quoting the iconic "I am your father" line throughout the day.

But did you know your favorite smart assistant has some fun in store as well?

Here's a Cool Tip.  Tell your Siri, Alexa, or Google Assistant, "I am your father."

You might be surprised by their responses!

How to Channel Your Inner Darth Vader
  1. Get your assistant's attention by saying its wake word ("Hey Siri," "Alexa," or "Hey Google").
  2. State clearly, "I am your father."
  3. Listen for a hopefully humorous response revealing how well your AI assistant knows Star Wars lore.

Each assistant has its own unique personality, and their responses reflect this:
  1. Siri: Apple's assistant often leans into the dramatic ("Nooooooooo!") or offers a bit of tech-themed confusion.
  2. Alexa: Amazon's assistant may channel some serious Darth Vader vibes or play coy, depending on your device.
  3. Google Assistant: Offers a mix of pop culture references, witty comebacks, and sometimes even attempts to turn you to the Light Side.

These playful responses are a great example of Easter eggs - hidden features designed to surprise and delight users.

They also add personality to a technology that can sometimes feel impersonal.

May the Fourth Fun Continue!

Try other Star Wars-themed prompts with your assistant today and see what they say.

Basic Star Wars Knowledge:
  • "Use the Force"
  • "Do or do not, there is no try."
  • "These aren't the droids you're looking for."
  • "Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope."
  • Character-Specific:
  • "I love you." (Try this with Siri for a classic Leia line)
  • "Aren't you a little short for a Stormtrooper?"
  • "Beam me up, Scotty." (Test if your assistant is a true Trek fan)
  • "I find your lack of faith disturbing."
  • Movie References:
  • "What is the Kessel Run?"
  • "Who shot first?"
  • "Tell me about the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise."
  • Getting Creative:
  • "Play the Cantina Band song."
  • "Give me directions to Tatooine."
  • "Search for the nearest Death Star." (Your assistant might have safety concerns!)
Be sure to visit the official Star Wars Day site.

And remember, the Force (of Star Wars geekery) is strong with this one.
