How to Enable Caps Lock on Your Phone

Are you tired of typing out everything in lowercase letters on your phone?

Do you find it difficult to hold down the shift key while typing?

Don't worry, enabling caps lock is a simple process that can save you time and effort.

The default setting is to require users to hold down the shift key to type in uppercase letters.

However, this can be inconvenient for those who frequently type in all caps.

By enabling caps lock, you can type in all uppercase letters without having to hold down the shift key the entire time.

Here's how to enable caps lock on your iPhone using the shift key:
  • Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  • Scroll down and tap on General.
  • Scroll down and tap on Keyboard.
  • Toggle on the Enable Caps Lock option.
  • Now when you're typing, simply double-tap the shift key to enable caps lock.
    • A line displays below the up arrow on the Shift key when Caps Lock is enabled.

  • To disable caps lock, simply tap the shift key once again.

For Android phones:
  • Double-tap the shift key to enable caps lock.
  • To disable caps lock, simply tab the shift key once again.
Enabling caps lock on your phone using the shift key is a quick and easy process that can save you time and make typing more efficient.

Give it a try and see how much easier it makes typing.

Stay Up-to-Date with the World: How to Access Google News URLs for Other Countries

Google News
Have you ever wondered how others outside your country think about your country's news?

There's an easy way to find out.

Here's the Cool Tip:  Check out Google News for other countries.

The easiest way is to do this:
  • Go to news.google.com and
  • Select the Gear icon in the top-right corner.
  • Select Language and Region
  • Select your choice of news.
    • For example, English (United Kingdom)
  • Then select Update.
  • You will be viewing the UK version of Google News.

Google News UK
  • To return to your native country, just reverse the process.

You can also use the links below to visit Google News for each country.  This option will not change your settings.

If you do not read the language, Google will usually have an option near the top of the page to translate the page into your native language.

For other countries, you can modify the URL parameters accordingly. The "hl" parameter indicates the language, and the "gl" and "ceid" parameters represent the country code. For example, if you want to access Google News in Italian for Italy, you can change the parameters to "hl=it" and "gl=IT&ceid=IT:it".

That's it!

How to Show or Hide the Ribbon in Office

Microsoft 365
Where's the ribbon?

That's often the question when using Microsoft Office.

The ribbon is a set of toolbars at the top of the window in Office programs, for example, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, designed to help you quickly find the commands that you need to complete a task.

But a common problem that users encounter is that the ribbon can appear and seemingly disappear on a whim.

Expand or collapse the ribbon

You can toggle between having the ribbon expanded or collapsed in multiple ways.

If the ribbon is collapsed, expand it by doing one of the following:

  • Double-click any of the ribbon tabs.

  • Right-click any of the ribbon tabs, and then select Collapse the ribbon.

Collapse the Ribbon
  • Press CTRL+F1.

If the ribbon is expanded, collapse it by doing one of the following:

  • Double-click any of the ribbon tabs.
  • Right-click any of the ribbon tabs, and then select Collapse the ribbon
Collapse the Ribbon
Collapse the Ribbon

  • Right-click Ribbon display options in the lower right of the ribbon, and then select Collapse the ribbon.
  • Press CTRL+F1.

Show Ribbon options

  • When the ribbon is visible, in the lower-right corner of the ribbon, click the Ribbon Display Options icon or the down caret icon.
Ribbon Display Options
Ribbon Display Options
  • Choose a state for the ribbon:

    • Full-screen mode hides the ribbon for the best view of your document, and only shows the ribbon when you select More , or press the ALT key.
    • Show tabs only shows only the ribbon tabs, so you see more of your document, and you can still quickly switch among the tabs.
    • Always show Ribbon keeps all the tabs and commands on the ribbon visible all the time.

If the ribbon isn't visible at all

If the ribbon isn’t visible at all (no tabs are showing), the state is set to Full-screen mode

Select More  or the three dot icon at the top right of the screen. This will temporarily restore the ribbon.

When you return to the document, the ribbon will be hidden again. To keep the ribbon displayed, select a different state from the Ribbon Display Options menu.

That's it!

Unlock Hidden Secrets and Uncover Forgotten Gems: How to Search in Google for a Specific Time Frame

Google
Can you go back in time?

You can when you search Google and set a specific time frame.

Google is a powerful search engine that can help you find information on almost any topic.

But sometimes, you may want to narrow down your search results to a specific time frame, such as the past hour, day, week, month, year, or a custom range.

This can be useful for finding the date-specific news, trends, updates, or events related to your query.

The easiest way to search in Google for a specific time frame is to use the Tools menu that appears below the search box after you enter your query.

Here are the steps to follow:
  • Enter your query in the Google search box and press Enter or click the search icon.
  • Below the search box, you will see a menu with options such as All, Images, Videos, News, etc. Click on the option that matches the type of results you want to see.
  • Next to the option you selected, you will see another menu "Tools" with options such as Any time, All results.
Google Time Search Apple Watch
Tool button for Time Searches
  • Click on the Any time option to open a drop-down menu with different time frames.
    • Select the time frame that suits your needs, such as Past hour, Past 24 hours, Past week, Past month, Past year, or Custom range. If you choose Custom range, you will be able to enter the start and end dates for your search.
Google Time Search Custom Date Range
Custom Date Range for Searches
  • Google will refresh the results and show you only the ones that match your selected time frame.
  • You can also sort the results by relevance or date by clicking on the Sort by option next to the Any time option.

Searching in Google for a specific time frame can help you find more relevant and timely information for your query.
Google Time Search News Apple Watch April 24 2015
Google Time Search News for Apple Watch - April 24 2015

In this example, searching Google News for the Apple Watch on April 24, 2015 returns results for the day the watch was announced.

Try it out and see how it can improve your Google search experience.
