Wake Up Smarter: How to Change Snooze Length in iOS 26 for Better Alarm Control

iOS 26
You set your alarm for 6:30 a.m., press snooze, and the phone wakes you again at 6:39.

The cycle repeats, and somehow the timing never feels quite right.

For decades, the iPhone locked users into a 9-minute snooze window.

Here's a Cool Tip:  Pick your Alarm Snooze Length in iOS 26.

Customize Your Snooze

What Changed in iOS 26

Until now, snooze was one of the most rigid parts of the iPhone’s alarm system.

It didn’t matter if you wanted just a quick two-minute breather or a fifteen-minute stretch.

You got nine minutes, every time.

iOS 26 introduces the option to choose a snooze interval anywhere from one to fifteen minutes.

Even better, the setting is applied per alarm, so your weekday and weekend alarms can have different behaviors.

The only drawback is that Apple doesn’t yet provide a global default.

If you want a custom snooze on several alarms, you’ll need to edit each one individually.

What You’ll Gain
  • More control over how long you sleep after snoozing
  • The ability to fine-tune alarms for different situations
  • Less risk of oversleeping because of an inflexible snooze cycle

Step-by-Step Instructions

Here's how to do it.

On iPhone (iOS 26):
  1. Open the Clock app and select the Alarm tab.
  2. Tap the alarm time you want to adjust.
  3. Make sure the Snooze toggle is on.
  4. A new option labeled Snooze Duration appears below the toggle. Tap it.
  5. Pick any interval between one and fifteen minutes.
  6. Save your changes by tapping Done.
Note: You’ll need to repeat this process for each alarm you want to customize.
