Meta’s latest update to Threads introduces “Ghost Posts,” a short-life post option that automatically vanishes after 24 hours.

Feature Explanation

Ghost Posts are Threads updates that disappear automatically after a day. 

Once you enable the ghost icon while creating a post, 

Threads marks it as temporary. 

After 24 hours, it’s archived out of public view, leaving no visible trail in your feed.

Replies to a Ghost Post are redirected to your private messaging inbox, and only you can see who liked or commented. 

It’s a quieter, more personal form of social interaction; perfect for testing an idea, sharing behind-the-scenes moments, or saying what’s on your mind without it following you forever.

This shift mirrors how users already communicate on Stories or Snapchat Snaps, but it keeps the text-based format Threads is known for.

  1. Open the Threads app (iOS / Android) and start a new post.
  2. Write your message or attach photos, videos, or text up to 10,000 characters.

  4. Post as usual; t will disappear automatically after 24 hours.
  5. Replies and likes appear privately in your inbox, not your public feed.
