How to Insert a Screenshot in Microsoft Power Point, Excel, Word or Outlook

We've told you before how the Windows Snipping app is great for adding screenshots to a document.

And the Windows 10 version is even better with a delayed timer.

But Microsoft Office products, Power Point, Excel, Word and Outlook, also have a built-in tool to insert screenshots.

Here's how to do it.

  1. Click the "Insert" menu on the Office Ribbon.  Then select "Screenshot".
  2. To add the entire window, click the thumbnail view of the available windows.
  3. To add part of a window, click "Screen Clipping".  Press and hold the left mouse button to select the screen area to capture.

That's it.  It's easy to add an entire screen or just a part into your presentation, document, spreadsheet or email.

Enjoy!

How to Quickly Show the Desktop in Windows 10

Windows 10
Microsoft has two cool tricks for showing the desktop.

What does showing the desktop mean?   All application windows will minimize and only the Windows desktop will display.  It's a quick way when you need to get to files and folders that are on your desktop.

The first trick is not very intuitive.  If fact, it's almost a hidden trick.  Even if you've been using Windows 10 for a while, you've probably overlooked it.

It's been there all along.

Windows 10 Bar - One Cool Tip

Do you see it?

Don't be ashamed.

Windows 10 Bar - Show Desktop

It's that itsy bitsy tall rectangle at the far right side of the taskbar.

Click it to show the desktop.

Just right mouse-click on the tab that contains the annoying auto-playing audio or video ad and select the "Mute tab" option.

How to Stop Facebook From Showing Bad Memories

Facebook
Facebook has a new feature, On This Day, that shows users' posts from a year or before that can be re-shared on the timeline.

Remembering weddings, births, graduations and vacations is great.

But what about divorces, deaths and horrific traffic accidents?

Who wants to remember those events?

Fortunately, Facebook has a preference page to allow users to filter friends and dates from showing up in On This Day.

Here's how to set your preferences:

1. Go to http://www.facebook.com/onthisday/
2. Click the "Preference" icon in the top right.
3. Click "Edit" on either one of the filters, People or Dates to create filters to prevent memories from being shown.
4.  When finished, click "Done"

Facebook On This Day Preferences

And that's it.  Memories from the friends you've added to the People filter or dates you've added to the Dates filter will not be shown in On This Day.

While you are on the On This Day page, you can also set Notifications to either "All Memories" or "Off".

Enjoy!
