What Is Deep Research?

Deep Research is an advanced capability within ChatGPT that autonomously conducts multi-step research tasks. 

It leverages OpenAI's o3 model to browse the internet, analyze data, and synthesize information into detailed reports, complete with citations and summaries. 

This tool is designed for users who require in-depth analysis on complex topics, saving them significant time and effort.

The New PDF Download Feature

Previously, users could only copy Deep Research reports, often resulting in formatting issues when pasted into other documents.

Who Can Use ChatGPT Deep Research?

As of May 2025, the Deep Research feature is available to users on the following subscription tiers:

• ChatGPT Plus: Full access to Deep Research, including PDF export. Requires enabling "Beta features" in settings.
• ChatGPT Team: Includes collaborative features and full access to Deep Research.
• ChatGPT Pro: Highest-level tools, ideal for heavy research use.

Note: The feature is not available to users on the Free plan.

Here's how to do it.

Web Version

1. Log in to your ChatGPT account, chatgpt.com.
2. Start a new chat and select "Deep Research" mode.
3. Enter your research prompt.
4. Once the report is ready, click the "Download" icon.
5. Click "Download PDF".

Currently, the PDF export function is only available on the web version. 

Mobile users can view reports but must switch to the desktop interface to download PDFs.
