The issue stems from the KB5053598 update, released as part of March’s Patch Tuesday. 

While intended to address security vulnerabilities and improve system performance, the update inadvertently uninstalled the Copilot app and unpinned it from the taskbar on affected devices. 

Notably, this issue does not impact the Microsoft 365 Copilot app, which remains fully functional.

How to Restore Copilot: Step-by-Step Guide

Here's how to do it.

Reinstall - Windows Users:

1. Open the Microsoft Store.
2. Search for “Copilot” in the search bar.
3. Click “Install” to download the app.

Pin Copilot to the Taskbar:

1. Open the "Start" menu.
2. Locate Copilot.
3. Right-click the app, navigate to “More,” and select “Pin to Taskbar.”

Who Is Affected?

The bug primarily affects users running Windows 11 versions 22H2, 23H2, and 24H2, as well as some Windows 10 systems. 

Home users are less likely to encounter this issue compared to enterprise customers.
