How to Read, Borrow, and Discover Millions of Books for Free

Have you ever wished you could access a vast collection of books online without paying a dime? 

Do you want to discover new books, track your reading progress, and contribute to a global library catalog? 

Here's a Cool Tip.  Check out Open Library, a project of the Internet Archive.

Open Library is an open, editable library catalog, building towards a web page for every book ever published. 

You can browse by subjects, authors, or lists, and borrow millions of books through Controlled Digital Lending. 

You can also set a yearly reading goal, track your progress, and discover new books.

How to Use Open Library to Read, Borrow, and Discover Millions of Books for Free

• Navigate to the Open Library website, www.openlibrary.org
• Sign up for a free account or login. 
• Once logged in, search for the book you want to read using the search bar at the top of the page.
• You can search by title, author, subject, ISBN, or keyword. 
• You can also browse by categories, such as Books, Authors, Subjects, or Lists.
• Find a book and click on its title to go to its page. 
• Review the summary of the book, its cover image, its edition information, and its availability. 
• Click on  “Read” or “Borrow” depending on the book’s status. 
• If the book is available to read online, click on the “Read” button and it will open in a new tab. 
• If the book is available to borrow, click on the “Borrow” button and it will add the book to your loans. 
• Borrow up to 10 books at a time for 14 days each. 
• Join a waitlist if the book is currently checked out by another user.
• To read the book online, use the toolbar at the bottom of the page to adjust the font size, zoom in or out, go to the next or previous page, or jump to a specific page. 
• Use the table of contents, bookmarks, or annotations to navigate the book.
• Download the book in various formats, such as PDF, EPUB, or Kindle, by clicking on the “Download” button at the top right corner of the page. 
• Transfer the file to your device or e-reader of choice and read it offline.

Here's a Cool Tip.  Don't fall for the  ‘I Can’t Believe He’s Gone’ scam that’s been preying on the emotions of Facebook users.

The "I Can't Believe He's Gone" Facebook scam is a multi-pronged attack aimed at stealing personal information, spreading malware, and exploiting human emotions. 

Be vigilant, verify information before clicking, and report any suspicious posts to Facebook to protect yourself and others.

Here's how to protect yourself from these scams.

• Look for posts with sensational headlines that play on emotions, like “I can’t believe he’s gone,” followed by a prompt to click on a link.
• Before clicking, check the URL and the authenticity of the post. Is it really from a friend, or has their account been compromised?
• If you encounter a scam post, report it to Facebook immediately to help prevent its spread.
• You can do this by clicking the three dot to the top right of the post and select "Report Post".
• Stay informed about the latest phishing tactics and how to recognize them.
• Regularly update your privacy settings and passwords to fortify your defenses against potential hacks.

3. Select “Task List.”

5. As tasks are updated, changes are reflected across all shared instances in real-time.

To share your task list in Microsoft Loop, you can share the page to other users or easily turn it into a Loop component.

• Select the Share button in the upper right-hand corner
• Select what you want to share: Workspace, Page Link or Component

Aptos: The New Typeface Elevating Microsoft 365

Here's how to do it.

1. Open any Microsoft 365 application (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
2. Create a new document (In Word, File --> New --> Blank Document)
3. Aptos is the new default font used when you start typing.

Discover the convenience of Copilot plugins and navigate your digital world with unparalleled ease, transforming your online experience right from your browser or Copilot interface.

Here's how to do it.

• Open Copilot on your device or navigate to copilot.microsoft.com, Bing.com or the mobile Copilot apps.
• Ensure you’re signed in with your Microsoft account.
• If you’re in the middle of a conversation, you’ll need to start a new topic to enable a plugin.
• Click on the ‘Plugins’ tab located in the top-right corner of the Copilot interface.

• Find the plugin you want to use.
• For example, to make a restaurant reservation, select the OpenTable plugin in the list and turn on the toggle switch to enable it.

• Once enabled, you can ask Copilot to find restaurant recommendations or make reservations. 
• For example, you could type, “Find me a romantic Italian restaurant for two in downtown St. Louis for this Saturday night.”
• Copilot, powered by the OpenTable plugin, will provide you with a list of restaurant recommendations based on your request.
• Select a restaurant from the recommendations and follow the prompts to make a reservation.

Current Plugins:

Search: This is the default plugin that enhances your search with the power of the web, including news, multimedia, shopping, and more. It must remain active for the other plugins to function.

Instacart: This plugin provides recipes and discovers the ingredients you need, then helps you get them all delivered from local stores.

Kayak: With this plugin, you can search for flights, hotels, and rental cars or get recommendations on where you can go based on your budget.

Klarna: This plugin allows you to search and compare prices from thousands of online shops.

OpenTable: The OpenTable plugin not only provides restaurant recommendations but also allows you to book a table directly from the Copilot interface.

Shop: This plugin allows you to search for millions of products from the world’s greatest brands.

Suno: This plugin provides access to AI to create songs with a single prompt.

You can enable up to three plugins at once, and the default search plugin must remain active for the others to function. Enjoy exploring and booking your dining experiences with ease! 

These plugins offer seamless integration, saving time and simplifying tasks with easy access to services.
