Ever felt bamboozled by complex internet plans, sneaky fees, and confusing data caps?

Are you ready to make smarter decisions about your broadband service?

Here's a Cool Tip.  Check out the new Broadband Consumer labels.

Starting April 10, 2024, the new Broadband Consumer Labels have arrived to empower you.

Think of them as the "nutrition facts" for your internet connection.

What are Broadband Consumer Health Labels?

Mandated by the FCC, these standardized labels provide clear, easy-to-understand information about broadband plans. They include:
  • Price: The base monthly price and any introductory rates.
  • Speed: Advertised download and upload speeds.
  • Data Caps: Any data usage limits.
  • Fees: Equipment rental, installation, and other hidden costs.
  • Contract Information: Length of contract and early termination fees (if applicable).
The FTC provides a sample label and more information HERE.

How to Use Broadband Consumer Health Labels
  • Internet service providers (ISPs) must display these labels at the point of sale – both online and in physical stores.
  • Consumers can use the labels to compare different plans side-by-side, focusing on the factors that matter most (price, speed, data, etc.)
  • Scrutinize the fine print, so you're not surprised by unexpected charges.
  • Be aware of how long introductory pricing lasts and what the standard rate will be afterward.

As an example, here is a Broadband Consumer label for AT&T.

AT&T Broadband Consumer Label
Note: the labels must be shown before purchasing.  And of course, they may change and are different based on location and products.

With these new labels, there is no more deciphering complex pricing and technical jargon.

Choose the plan that best suits your needs and budget.

The labels foster fair competition among ISPs, potentially leading to better deals for consumers.

Broadband Consumer Health Labels put the power back in your hands.

Make informed internet choices, save money, and find the perfect plan for your digital life – all thanks to Broadband Consumer Labels.
